I am so surprised by how much I loved this book. I picked it out randomly at the library and I’m so glad I grabbed it. OWEN IS SWOON WORTHY. I started and finished it within 5 hours because I didn’t want to set it down.

Side note: this book is written about domestic violence. The author based it off of events that she has gone through herself. Every event, thought, and reaction I felt was very realistic, which I appreciate in books that are spreading awareness on subjects like this.

I really enjoyed this book, the characters all had something to add. Some good and some bad. I loved Peyton's twin cousins. They looked out for her as if she was their little sister, when in fact she is older then them by a few months.
We see how the book starts off that Peyton has everything going for her, she is accepted into a great college early and on a great soccer team. Awesome sweet boyfriend, great friends and fantastic best friend.

But that all changes one night when Peyton discovers something about her oh so great boyfriend. And when he gets mad things end bad for Peyton and her dream of becoming a soccer player. And when no one believes Peyton when she tells them the truth, things get worse. Friends whom she thought she trusted turn their backs and her best friend believes her brother instead.

So when Peyton's mother decides its best for her to move to her uncle's to get better the next 4 months, she decides yeah it might be best. But there Peyton is afraid her uncle will tell her how her father died. Peyton doesn't want to hear all the details. She just wants to get through physical therapy and play soccer in time for spring. But she doesn't count on meeting Owen who wins her over without really trying. And making a new good friend in Grace and her male cousins. But her past is coming back to haunt her in the present. He ex can't just let her go. I honestly don't want to give anymore away then that. I will say Peyton sometimes annoyed me with her thinking, that she can do everything herself and doesn't need help. I get that to a certain extin however with her wearing a brace... She is going to need help. I want another book to read more about these characters.

Broken Beautiful Hearts

*received an arc in exchange for an honest review**

5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

A great book that you won’t want to put down. Two people will be faced with losing their dreams and what are they going to do to make sure they don’t lose each other. They will be faced with challenges and have to find strength in not only each other but themselves. Kami Garcia weaves a heartwarming story that will have you wanting more.

Peyton was on her way to her dream school playing soccer, but after a fateful night where her boyfriend pushes her down the stairs and wrecks her knee, her dream is slipping through her fingers. The worse part is no one except her mother believes her and Reed won’t leave her alone. Her mom decides to send her to her uncle’s to continue PT until things die down.

On her first day there she meets Owen who even though they don’t say much to each other she can already feel a connection. When she finds out that Owen is an kickboxer/MMA fighter and will be helping her with her PT she knows it could change things. As she grows closer to Owen they can’t deny their feelings but as time goes on they both find out that they are hiding things from each other.

Will they be able to help each other and their own dreams? Or will Peyton once again lose someone she loves because they won’t take care of themselves?

OMG I loved this book sooo much!

This book will take you on an unforgettable, emotional rollercoaster ride, that you just won't want to get off. From the first page I was hooked and I just couldn't put it down till I'd devoured it all.

With a unique and intriguing storyline, amazingly addictive characters, this story is definitely one to add to your "to read" list or better yet just "one-click" it. I feel a reread coming up very soon lol.

I thought this was a sweet story. I had moments of heartbreak, but it also had moments that healed as well. The characters were easy to relate to. While I didn't always agree with them, I understood where they were coming from. They were real and flawed and beautiful. I loved this story. I don't read YA very often, but I am always a fan of Kami Garcia and she definitely does the genre justice. I absolutely fell in love with the world created in this story.

Rating: 4 stars

To be completely honest? This could've been a 5 stars-rating for me, so I'm slightly disappointed. But I mean,,, I still loved it so I should stop complaining and try to write a decent review for once.

ANYWAYS. So, Broken Beautiful Hearts is written from the POV of our protagonist Peyton Rios. At first glance, it seems like this girl has it all; she's a star soccer player who just got offered a great scholarship, and Reed, her loving and supporting boyfriend. Or so it seemed.
After seven months, her 'perfect' relationships comes to a disastrous end. She's torn her knee ligament and not only is she in danger of losing her college offer, no one believes her when she tells the story of how she got injured. No one believes her when she tells them how her seemingly perfect boyfriend, Reed pushed her and caused her injury.

Now, for her own safety, Peyton's being sent away to live with her uncle and cousins for a while in a small town called Black Water. Her feelings are a mess and she isn't sure who to trust, but there, in that small town, she meets Owen.

Okay I know it sounds really cheesy and all, but it's not! Well, it is a little, but hear me out. Our main character Peyton goes through an amazing character development and the romance might be corny but Owen was honestly just so lovable?? I couldn't help but really love him. Moreover, the story doesn't just revolve around their fighting against their attraction to one another. It's about an unhealthy past relationship, coping with the aftermath and (this is what I think) friendship.

I'm gonna cut this short because I have school tomorrow and I need to sleep but the reason why I'm disappointed and therefore giving this 4 stars? There were mainly two things.

1) I would've liked some more character depth for the secondary characters. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely loved the Twins and Grace and all but I felt like they were a little too flat. They were so important in this book and I still feel like I barely know any of them.
2) I also would've liked some more depth into Peyton and Reed's relationship, how crazy that might sound. We started out at their end, and I get it but I felt like I was missing something.
