One of my comfort books. The fact that it was about soccer, and recovering from an injury made me bawl my eyes out. I will fight anyone who says that this book is less than a five stars read because they clearly have not had something they loved so much stripped away from them. Peyton and Owen contrasted each other in ways that were literally indescribable, and I love them so much.

Broken Beautiful Hearts is a lovely story about opening up your heart after being betrayed. Peyton is devastated after a horrible breakup with her boyfriend that left her badly injured, friendless and ostracised by her friends. Desperate for her safety, her mother forces her to stay with her uncle and cousins, where Peyton tries to start anew in a different school. Peyton soon finds solace in Owen Falls, who helps her through therapy, and whom she starts to fall for. I enjoyed reading the story, as Peyton conquers her fears and the trauma of the circumstances that led to her injury. It also sends an important message on speaking up in the face of an attack, and standing up for yourself.

Peyton Rios is a star soccer player, with only one parent, the boyfriend of her dreams, and the most wonderful best friend she could ever have. But one night, that changes when something unbelievable happens at a party. Peyton's dreams of going pro could be shattered. She moves in with her uncle in a small town in Tennesee and meets a guy who has his own secrets. Although, both's secrets are unraveled, and not in the ways either of them planned. Throughout all of this, Peyton has to deal with fights and cocky cheerleaders, high school boys, and rehab.
If you get queasy reading about romance, I don't know why you even would've picked up this book in the first place, but there is romance, a handful or two of mentions about death, mentions of the military, and fighting. There are also mentions of stalking, and abuse.
However, this book was a really good read, and once I got dragged in, I couldn't put it down for anything. I read over half the book in one day, and I usually only read 3, or less, chapters a day.

This was a great book. Very New Adult though as it was a tad graphic in some areas.
There are multiple scenes of alcohol consumption and tons of fighting.
The relationship that Peyton and Owen develop is awesome. I am not usually a fan of the "at first I hate you but now I love you" progression but it really worked for these two. Peyton's previous relationship lends a helpful hand for the reader to understand her timidness to develop feelings for someone new.
Some of the supporting characters were a little annoying. Like her cousin's ex-girlfriend. I mean, I understand it was necessary to have that annoying character but MAN! I did not like her.
I also found some of the scenes predictable. That may be the biggest issue I had with this book.
Overall, I loved the story and the progression between Peyton and Owen.
I would love to see more books following maybe Peyton's bff Tess or even one of her cousins.

A book with a great synopsis that ended up like every generic YA romance. Had high hopes for this one, but even if I ignore the cliches and everything, I hated how Garcia dealt with violence as a whole in this book.

Great book! It had me hooked from the beginning then the pace slowed for a bit then picked back up again until the end. At the end the author talked about how like the main girl things happened to her like in the book and some of the things from the book were true for her. I just had to finish it!!!

The YA section knows how to weave the high school life but "Broken Beautiful Hearts" is more than a love story and one of redemption. It's about bullying, abusive boyfriends, fear and the strength to prove yourself and become stronger.
Peyton has everything; a good boyfriend, a best friend and an upcoming scholarship in soccer. When she discovers Reed, her boyfriend hiding drugs from her, it causes Peyton to see with new eyes her relationship with him and also survive the consequences.
Enter Owen, MMA fighter and all kinds of gentle and sweet. He and Peyton slowly will become friends and even something more, even when she is scared and fears her growing attraction to him.
I enjoyed reading this book. It had a 'mature' vibe to it, despite the bullying and the cliche of the high school hierarchy, but this was an enjoyable read that pulls at your heartstrings!
