The BBC show is one of my favorites and this book gave a new look into Rae Earls world and life.

Since this is her 16 year old dairy I can understand some not enjoying it, but you can’t judge her lived experience.

Rae has introduced me to a ton of new music, well old music, but new to me. Love it!

It was a bit hard to get started with all the British slang but once you caught on it was a pleasant read. Rae reminds me of myself in High School, the world is ending, secret love, funny girl that just floats by just trying to figure things out.

I love the tv show they made this into so upon reading the book, quite a bit has changed.

Awesome. Awesome. Awesome.

Disclaimer: I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review

I really enjoyed this one. I thought it was honest and raw -- which, obviously, because it is edited versions of Rae Earl's actual teenage diaries. Kudos to Rae Earl for publishing those because my teenage diaries are never going to see the light of day ever again.

I have lots of good things to say about this one. It was so truthful and it transported me back to when I was a teenager. I liked that no punches were pulled and while some of this may have been edited, it didn't feel like it. I felt like I was really reading the thoughts of a 17 year old. I also liked that I could live vicariously through Rae in her life as a teen in the UK. It sounds just as boring as life as a teenager in Canada.

The only thing was that because it is only a year, it doesn't feel complete. It doesn't really feel like anything actually ~happened~ per say because it ends abruptly. And a lot of this was "filler" in a sense. I think I would have liked to been able to read all the volumes at once so that I could get the "full" story in completion rather than just a little snippet here. But I have high hopes for the rest and can't wait to get my hands on them!

If you have ever felt alone and unsure of whether your friends or that cute boy likes you, this is one for you. It is a quick and easy read and so so relatable! I highly recommend checking it out.

a rec from ziad, i was really excited to get into this book. the narrator did an amazing job and really brought the character to life and gave earl so much vibrancy and personality, however i feel like the author sometimes forgot to.

i related to earl a lot in many different ways. the depiction of her relationships with her friends and romantic interests and how they’re impacted by her body image and disordered eating felt raw and honest. however i wish we got to know earl outside of her weight, because after a while her complaining abt her body felt very repetitive and redundant, and it doesn’t help that the book randomly ends without a proper resolution in order to make room for a second & unnecessary book. i think not giving earl the space to try and grow out of her unhealthy behaviors and begin to heal makes her character feel trapped in the tropes the book spends the entire time trying to fight. but i think that the tv adaption will not have this issue since it had more time to flesh out earls arc over 3 ssns, so I’m excited to watch it and compare. overall a very relatable read i just wish earl didn’t feel so one note

I absolutely loved the TV series but this was kind of a letdown. There's no real storyline so it's really repetitive and I was happy to be done with it.
