Welcome to St. Hell was a unique foray in past and present of the same person on both sides of the gender debate.  The perspectives of family and friends was a nice touch.  I enjoyed the education lesson with comedy thrown in.  His idol is Bam Margera, which is so sad. Now this author is from the UK, so I didn't understand some of the language used; however, I still was able to adequately enjoy.

Excellent graphic memoir relating the author's experience as a teen discovering their gender identity as male to female transgender.

This book is so sweet and such a well-executed idea. I had mixed feelings about Genderqueer because while it was great hearing someone's process of knowing their gender it was also a huge downer. Having an adult-self as a co-narrator in this book meant even at the darkest moments there was a lot of hope and compassion for the narrator. I also LOVED the family reaction bits and it was cool reading about someone who is exactly my age. Really fun, great expressive art style, super thoughtful and simple. I also really liked the photos included at the end. Cute and nice! But also honest and sometimes intense. Just great.

A really witty and vulnerable graphic novel memoir by a trans man and his experiences in school. I really love the art, and the book was written so well! It was funny and heart wrenching, and I felt like I was getting to know Lewis. I loved how he showed his journey from being a young child to now, and how he flourished as an adult. Gramps dropping knowledge bombs!! Loved how he had a supportive family and friends.

I loved the photos at the end too - what a great personal touch! Lewis’s happiness is evident in the later photos and it was beautiful to see.

Definitely check this one out!

Welcome to St. Hell is easily one of the best queer graphic novels I’ve read! The self awareness and the way Lewis’s story is told is absolutely fantastic! With this being non-fiction, the presence of important people within Lewis’s life was so well done and having Lewis be the narrator of his own story worked perfectly! The art is really creative and unique and you can tell a lot of love and passion went into this. For anyone who is Trans this is a must read, it is so informative and hopeful in the way it looks at growing up being Trans and I couldn’t recommend this one enough!
