I love short stories about loser queer women making bad decisions about their lives and being delusional.

I'm not sure. It was very uneven. I didn't care for the first half or even 2/3 at all, thought about DNF-ing, decided to see it through. I'm glad I did. Did not find it remotely funny.

It’s taken me a while to collect my thoughts to review this. Was it everything I thought it would be? No. Was it a fun book that went to dark places? Yes. I couldn’t put it down.

This is a ‘weird girl’ book. I really liked the story, and I think if you’re someone who gravitates towards books that are about growing as a person, you will enjoy it. I didn’t always like the main character or understand her decisions. But that’s what kept me coming back.

I did feel the ending was anti-climatic. It’s weird and has a lot of promise. But it felt like someone trying to quickly wrap up a story they had a deadline for. There was more to be said and done.

All in all, I like this and can’t say I regret picking it up!

I wouldn't think this is the kind of book I would enjoy and yet I did. Maybe because there's this constant theme of "feeling lost" that is something that I can relate so much to.
The mc is unlikeable and i feel like you're supposed to judge her for her actions (which are terrible and keep spiraling). For some reason, I didn't. I felt almost empathy towards her. She has gotten herself into a life that doesn't feel like her own, it feels mostly that she can't quite tell how she got in it the first place. And after that, it's all just sort of a fever dream where she's just acting on impulse and letting her intrusive thoughts take hold.
And so despite all the bad bad stuff she did, there's a small part of me that can't stop thinking "good for her" and that's is thankful I got to go with her on this crazy ride.

The first half of the book is alot of inner monologue and nothing happening and it was really hard for me to go through, actually I thought I was going to hate this book BUT The second half makes it so worth it Omg I cried so hard my head hurts. I also read the acknowledgments after which isn’t something I usually do Please please please read this if you’re thinking about it omg

This book is my second best read of 2023. While I don't share the character's main struggle of teen pregnancy there were times where it felt like the author pulled thoughts straight from my teenage mind. If you're a fan of "girl vs the void" stories this is definitely for you, if you liked Milkfed by Melissa Bromer this is for you. I definitely know it won't be everyone's cup of tea but it certainly is mine and I look forward to rereading it.
