Amazing book, really goes in depth about difficult topics. The relationship between pizza girl & Jenny is unlikely which makes it especially captivating. Was interesting to see an out of the ordinary pizza delivery turn into something much darker and obsessive.

Pizza Girl is an incredibly dark and challenging story following a Korean-American girl as she deals with a lot of personal issues spanning from death of a parent and alcoholism to pregnancy and and depression. There’s implications of suicide and murder as well, which is what makes the story turn dark towards the end.

I liked the progression of the story as we follow “Pizza Girl” (whose name we don’t get until the end of the book) in her daily life working at a pizza parlor. I struggled with her character because I didn’t really like her…but the reason I don’t like her was a huge part of her novel. She seemed disinterested in her life and unkind towards her family and boyfriend…i.e. depression. To not like the main character would be to not like the premise of the book…but I found the book captivating and I couldn’t put it down. I mean, I read it in one day. It’s written really well and I was actually really happy with how the book ended. It wasn’t perfectly tied up with a bow but I didn’t feel that it left a lot of things unresolved.

I could easily see this book starting a discussion if you are able to handle the big elements of it. While you really watch the character progression, there are elements of plot that drives the book forward.
