This was a very well written book, but the end seemed pretty rushed and unrealistic compared to what was happening throughout the book. The ending kind of ruined it for me, but otherwise it was good.

This is boring and the reviews seem to say it doesn't get any better. Stopping at 4:35

As much as I enjoy Tom Perrotta's way of writing, this was a bit disappointing. Because it has an ending that doesn't really wrap things up and a narrative that skips ahead in time a lot, it is hard to get past the feeling that the book is incomplete. When the book jumps ahead in time between chapters, it always feels like we're missing something, because pretty big things happen in those gaps.

It's a good story but like... what was the point? There's never any climax of a story. Just a wandering "what if some people were maybe raptured..." no answers, no learning lessons, no problem, no solution. Just people meandering, floundering after an event. Like watching your neighborhood wander aimlessly about their lives.

This could have been cool, even “the best Twilight Zone episode you never saw” as Stephen King blurbed, but instead it was mostly about men lusting after teenage girls and no one talking about their feelings or dealing with grief.

I heard a lot of buzz around this book when it first came out. I thought the topic was very interesting, but didn't really find that you got enough in depth feeling for any of the characters. I did, however, like the story and think it ended well.

Good writing but I felt like nothing happened. I spent the majority of the book waiting for more. More of anything. A lot of the interesting parts were told in passing.

I couldn't finish the book, I only made it about 200 pages in it was painfully ridiculous to me. I feel bad about giving up on it but with so many books in the world it's very difficult to read something that just doesn't appeal to me. I feel as if I was tricked I thought the book was going to be on the rapture and it wasn't. It had a bizarre twist on it and it just struck a nerve with me. Maybe someone else will like this but honestly the more I read the more I disliked it.
