Overall I enjoyed this read, but what I will say is that
I don't think Hobb does as well in her shorter fiction (re:exposition). Maybe it's also a third person thing? The piebald prince story is perf though. Having a wider breadth of exposure to other character in this story universe I am struck by how the character voice of Fitz is so tremendously developed in comparison to others which I'm so grateful for. Truly a special one.

my favourites were a touch of lavender, finis, and homecoming. i liked the other 2 robin hobb stories too, and didn't particularly dislike any of the Megan lindholm ones but these were the favourites
🙏 also this was my first taste of her writing as megan lindholm and they truly are like two different writers almost it was so cool to see

I really loved all of these stories. The Lindholm ones took me by surprise as I haven't read any of the author's books in this voice. I found them such an interesting commentary, especially with the introductions. It was also so nice to read more stories from the ROTE series, as I am still very much mourning the loss of those characters.

This was a very interesting experience for me.

On the one hand we have the Megan Lindholm stories in here. They were more on the contemporary with speculative elements in them. One of the stories gave me Patrick Ness vibes, they were very interesting and have me a lot more excited to try more Lindholm books.

On the other we have the Robin Hobb stories. These ones were set in the Realm of the Elderlings. They felt very immersive in the sense that they were set in the world of my favourite (albeit extensive) series and I like just having some simple stories of unknown characters experiencing the magic of this world. They're not necessary but are incredibly enjoyable and I would irrefutably recommend to fans of the series.

Miss Hobb has done it again
