The kind of peculiar where you’re not sure if you should read in one sitting or savour for weeks on end. Enjoyed Jenny’s short essays and the cover art is bang on.

I love how unapologetic Slate sounds about putting her out-there thoughts into the world. She announces it in the opening essay. "I'm setting the tone and the tone is this: there is a free, wild creature up here, and now you must think about how to take her in and keep her alive." The less I tried to guess what was the 'reality' behind any given paragraph or essay, and the more I just met the writing where it was, the more I enjoyed it.

Had to read it in chunks cause the prose can only be taken in like squash
Such a yummy, yummy book! It really IS such a weirdly beautiful book to pick up, and I admit I had absolutely NO idea what I was getting myself into when I first started reading it. But many, many little and big little lessons and epiphanies later, I am SO happy to have read it. There is so much that has gone into creating the experience Jenny creates for the book’s readers, and it is all evident in the little details that are sprawled across the book. I have never seen anyone describe things the way she has, and I think it is so amazing to find yet another book that changes your life in that little, weird, seemingly insignificant way that only you know how differently you see the world once you’re done reading it. A solid 10/10, especially if you’re working your way up a reader’s block <3
