It was a little slow. I liked the first book and I liked knowing what happened to the people of Ember. I don't think I will read any of the other books.

A simpler book for younger readers with a simplified message. Keep that it mind, and enjoy the book for what it is

this was a nice sequel to the first book! definitely not as good in my opinion, but it still kept me interested. it is always interesting to see literal children fucking shit up and stirring the pot lol. lina made questionable choices, but i shall continue with the series.

A solid read, so many questions are just unknowable from this point in the timeline that it leads to many questions.

A terribly sad and real portrait of how people view outsiders and others. It's pretty reflective of today.

I wanted to shout specialize to everyone, why on earth would they divide labor in such a terrible way?

I enjoyed it, but I felt like there were a few inconsistencies with some of the character developments. Overall though, a great sequel to The City of Ember.

Quite a bit more heavy handed in a moral sense than the first book.
