I very much enjoyed the author's first book, Essentialism. It is a thoughtful book full of strategies to better your life. Effortless on the other hand felt forced and disjointed. The through line felt trite and the chapters didn't merge. There are better books out there on how to improve your work and life than this one.

A nice book whose time has come. If you struggle with overwork and ambition-based malaise, this book is good medicine. However, I much prefer to reach seminal works of philosophical nature - such as The Tao Te Ching, that touch on the "effortless effort" paradigm from a deeper and more spiritual nature. This book has a lot of hacks and tactics, but I found them less than useful. The stories were far more effective in conveying the meaning and themes of the book. Reducing such powerful teaching down to tactics seems to strip the work of its potential for deeper impact. That said, for many, particularly those less familiar with eastern/Taoist teaching, this book can be a game-changer.

I'll definitely check out this book's tips again whenever I'm stressing myself out in any aspect of my life.

I thought this book had many great points and ideas. This is a case where I wish I would have read a physical copy instead of having listened to the audiobook. The author did a great job of reading it, I just would have benefited from having the option to slow down and stop and ponder.

Good information but I needed to physically read this.

It was super dense, so not much information stuck.
