This book could have been good but flopped for me. Right off the bat the story starts off very heavy with the FMC Ava waking up at a keg party to discover she had been SA. That was hard to read first thing, but I was hoping to read on to see her getting justice.

But, unfortunately one of my biggest issues (that I will always lose interest in a book when I come upon it) is when an Author cannot decide WHO their character is and has too many conflicting traits. For example, Ava was obviously hurting and traumatized from the attack…she returns to the school where everyone has turned on her thinking she is a liar…and in one chapter she would barely be able to hold it together and would retreat in her head….then the next moment she’s joking/flirting with Knox (MMC). I was getting whiplash from her being traumatized/withdrawn to her being bubbly and confident with Knox. There was no solid framework on who Ava was. If she would have developed a real relationship first with Knox, I would have understood her confidence with him. There were holes in their relationship that made their interactions make zero sense.

Another big issue I had was the actual Title being misleading. It gave me the expectation of possible letter writing, as in plural. I made it halfway through the book and Ava received one letter.

I felt that the secret admirer writing multiple notes to Ava would have been wonderful to the storyline. So, that was kind of deflating.

I do have to say though, Knox, Dane, and Wyatt were really awesome characters and I did want to know what happened with them. For me though, it was not enough to keep me reading. I will never know who the actual culprit is! Which will drive me crazy. But again, I can’t focus with Ava’s character. The flaws in this book were too great for me to continue.

I always think I’m not a romance or new adult fan, but the mutual pining of two damaged protagonists worked for me. This is super cute and I loved Ava as a character.
For a story that has a rape in the first chapter, I was worried about how it would go. The author handled it well and did a really good story that involves heavy topics justice.

TW: rape

I read review and someone compared this with Veronica Mars first season and they were right.
It has a lot of similar stuff.
I liked Knox and Ava together at times difficult to read but okay read.

Dear Ava is a difficult and emotional book to read. The book starts with Ava in the woods, drunk and drugged. She has a hard life after that. Waking up at her friends house. Going to the police. Everyone thinking she's a snitch. No one believed her story. Knox was always in love with Ava, but she never knew it. He plays it off as if it's nothing. Until they have to work together for a school project. They are perfect for each other, but they are so young and need to learn to grow without each other.

I cried, I laughed, and I smiled while reading this book. It has a few TW, but it's worth reading!

This book was something else. I loved Knox from the start! He was so sweet and careful when it came to Ava. They have an interesting chemistry that’s for sure. I liked them, and I liked the story line. I liked how Ava’s brother had always something to say. But mostly I liked how Ava handled things in the end. She was mature enough to understand everything that was going on and decided what was best for both of them. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️stars for this book.

For some reason, I didn't massively click with this book. I just felt confused the whole way through.

I didn't really connect with either characters, until that last 10%!

I feel like this would've been done better as a second chance romance...
