I went into this book not knowing what to expect due to all of the polarizing reviews. But I ended up enjoying it for the most part. I want to say that the twist is the part that probably made it better for me. If it wasn't for that I don't think I would have enjoyed it as much. It was hard to sympathize at all with a lot of the characters as well. (White superiority, racism, petty rich people problems) to give you an idea.
I just wish there was more development in all aspects but it still had me quite intrigued. I hope the prequel gives me more insight into why the bulk of characters acted the way they did.

1 hour 42 minutes - This book has had very mixed reviews and I can understand why. The writing is very confusing and jumbled, making it hard to follow the plot, what is flashback and what is currently happening, and features an incredibly unreliable narrator. However, within the context of the story, this makes sense. Not much seems to happen, but again, this is an intentional choice on the part of the author. However, this doesn't detract from the fact that certain points of this book were a little dull and repetitive. On the other hand, once the truth started to unravel, it was very engaging (although still confusing). Hence, I myself have mixed feelings about this book.

this book a lot of people were disappointed by but i enjoyed it ! i thought it was well written, and the plot twist (even though i had a suspicion) was still a great move in the story. however, a lot of the characters were extremely privileged, (the author did this on purpose, i hope) to the points of not knowing workers who had worked there all their lives. they were very rich and did not understand some of my favorite characters points.

This book broke my heart, and I mean that in the best way possible. As part of the target demographic for the book, I can tell you it's probably only going to appeal to us teenagers and maybe folks a little older if you're open-minded? The book has enjambment and loves using rule of three so that makes it's very digestible. Fair warning though: if you dislike minimalistic contemporary writing the writing style might annoy you but I can say as someone who doesn't particularly like Rupi-Kaur-esque writing—this is not that at all. These characters are complex and tackle issues that are way older than them. Also, you will love Gat. I know I do. This book is also great for someone who wants to get out a reading slump, it had definitely motivated to read more so that's also nice. Happy reading!
