Douglas Adams has a way with words like no other. Parallel plot-lines challenge the reader, but the humour and wit with which the book is written will keep you thoroughly engaged and make it very hard to put down.

I loved the first book in this series. The second one I still enjoyed. But then I couldn't get into the third one, paused this series for several years.
I still liked somehow the third book, but it was a lot weaker than the previous ones.
Then I read the fourth. The beginning was as great as usual, but I soon realised that most of the plot is just a romance on earth. It was kind of pointless.
After the disappointment of the third and fourth novel I don't feel like reading the short story "Young Zaphod plays it safe" and the fifth and final book "Mostly Harmless". Especially because some reviewers wrote that the ending wouldn't be good.

This was soo very different from all sci-fi I've read so far! There are some boring chapters, but doesn't really matter when you've got 700++ pages of pure awesomeness!

There's something about the book that made me keep reading, without slowing down, even through the really boring chapters (or maybe it's because my exams start in a week).

This book is so weird! Most of it is comedy. Just fun. But, all that comedy kind of enhances the serious bits. You really start to question a lot of things in life.
Spoiler
Another thing, I really hope people (not necessarily humans) never harnesses the power of time traveling and moving between parallel universes (or whatever you might call them; that bit about universes not being parallel messed up my understanding). I also never wanna live (or go) to millions or billions of years in the future. Douglas Adams made it sound really fucked up.

DID NOT FINISH: 25%

Had to return it to library. I read the first Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy (this edition has the entire series) and I would rate it 3.5 stars!
