I've always heard of this book and finally took the time to read it. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Hitchhiker's guide was everything I expected and at times not which made it all the more entertaining. I've yet to read the books proceeding it and I'm sure I will get a kick out them as well.

douglas adams is the funniest science fiction author i've ever had the privelege of reading. his absurdism, cynicism, sarcasm, and sheer brilliance coalesce into a series as comically convoluted as the Guide itself. whether it's explaining the intricacies of flying, the triple-breasted whores of eroticon six, or just telling another great drinking story, douglas adam pours laugh into laugh into this wonderful five-book trilogy.

too bad the movie was terrible.

Uno dei libri più bizzarri che abbia mai letto! Il finale è stato inaspettato, ma non mi è dispiaciuto

I read this whole series very quickly, but I was never really sure I liked it. I just also couldn't put it down.

A fun series, but by books four and five you can tell Douglas is getting exhausted by it all.

The world lost an amazing man when this author died in 2001. Douglas Adams' works are those that do not age, and the Hitchhiker's series is easily a classic. It's hard to describe the books without giving anything away, but let me just say that should you decide to read this trilogy of 5 plus 1, you will not be disappointed.

I am going to take a break from the Hitchhiker books and read something else, but here are a few notes. Restaurant seems a little more disjointed than Hitchhiker, with a lot of distinctly unresolved bits. Ford and Arthur have become separated from Zaphod and Trillian and are back on Earth, except in the past. Zaphod and Trillian managed to ditch the guy who'd set up Z on his whole journey to begin with, except nothing is really explained about why, or what might still be going on in Z's head.

Entertaining, but definitely silly.

Constant hilarity!
