Batman assembles a team consisting of Red Robin, Batwoman, Spoiler, Orphan, and Clayface, which is a hell of a roster. The story is pretty neat too. Above average bat-book.

Cool, the best thing I've read so far in
Operation: DC AFTERBIRTH

I think that's what I was calling it. Probably not in so many caps. But whatever.

Batman puts a band together, and they fight some shit. It's specific, actual shit too. Not weird cosmic stuff. It's stuff that makes sense for Batman and Friends to fight with punches and kicks and batarangs.

The Clayface addition works too.

It's just...the comic book that reads the most like a comic book to me. People get together, fuck some shit up, and then we move on to our next wacky adventure. That's really all I'm looking for, and this one delivers.

I read the individual issues but decided to go back and read the first arc collected. James Tynion IV knows how to write team dynamic. He took a group of characters that relied on one another that resulted in a compelling story full of action and heartache. I’ve always been a fan of the Bat and Bat-Family and this run encapsulated my love by utilizing characters often overlooked and showcasing their talents.

Did not enjoy this. Won't be continuing with the series.

Pretty good! Lays some interesting groundwork for later stories while also being engaging and giving members of the Batfamily (other than Bruce) the opportunity for some spotlight and character development. Not crazy about the end of the volume but it's comic books, that kind of stuff happens all the time.

As the midnight hour starts so does the twelfth hour of the readathon for me. I finished the first Detective Comics trade earlier, my first foray into the Rebirth version of the title. Still undecided on it for the most part. I don’t like Bruce having family and hadn’t run across that in the main title at all. Most of this supporting cast is alien to me and not what I read a Bat book for. We’ll see how the rest of the trades go.
