Definitely a great read! 4.5 stars. I am a new convert to Jodi Picoult books. As a speech language pathologist working with many kids on the autism spectrum this book really hot home for me. I thought this was a fair representation of kids with Aspergers. As always, Picoult makes you really think about all sides of the issue. Her characters are very human, flawed and so real. Great story!

Initially, I thought this was going to be too similar to Handle with Care and that I was going to be annoyed all the way through. There's the kid with condition, the resentful sibling, the suffering parent who neglects the typical kid, but I lost my irritation quickly. My daughter & I love forensics shows, so the crime scene staging was entertaining. The storyline wasn't difficult to figure out, but Jacob's character was easy to like and sucked me in. Well-written, however, there are a few holes in the plot and I would have preferred more at the end.

Positive: Gives indepth description of Asberger's. One of our son's best friends has this condition. A couple of his "quirks" actually made more sense to me after reading. Good plot and story. Negative: Way too much mundane information. Almost gave up on the book several times. It could be edited down to about half the content.

I was absolutely hooked. Racing-heart-captivated.
And then that ending

Very much her formula: various narrators,  a big trial,  a supposed twist ending.  The characters are to extreme to be sympathetic.

Read a little slow, imo. It's a classic mis/noncommunication trope, which isn't my favorite, but I love Jodi Picoult.
