This is about Tohru and the members of the zodiac.
I enjoyed this installment much more. I felt like there was more progress to the story in this one.
I really liked the story of Hatori and Mayu. The unrequited pining was well done.
But I really wish I still had a character guide for each member of the zodiac in these collections. It would help me remember all the members easier.

This book contains the first half of my favorite Fruits Basket subplot (when they go to the beach) so five stars for that. It also had a couple of chapters on what Hana and Uo were doing which I admit that I skimmed through. I adore them, but I care way more about their relationship to Tohru than I do about their own individual adventures.
That being said there is so much amazing Tohru/Kyo relationship development in this volume and ugh I love it so much. They are probably my favorite fictional couple of all time. Gah, so many feelings. They have a ton of cute moments in this book.
We're also starting to see cracks in Tohru's cheerful facade which is just so heartbreaking but really important -- that's one of the thing that I really appreciate about the manga that isn't present in the anime. I'm such a crybaby when it comes to this series.

I feel like this volume took me forever to finish. Not because it's bad. I really do like these characters and am interested in seeing where it is going. But the pacing is just so slow to me. I can go days where I'm just not motivated to pick it up. And yet each time I finish a volume...I'm instantly picking up the next one. So clearly I am invested in the story...it's just not a compulsive read like most manga are for me.
Definitely my fave volume so far. Being able to see some of my favorite side stories was so fun.
