This was a fun, sexy little romance. I loved both the narrators and all the cat conversations had me cracking up. I didn't know this was a cliffy, but luckily book 2 is already out.

So sad it’s over

I was going to give this four stars, but I am so incredibly sad that it’s over which is the sign of a truly great book so I am giving it the 5 stars it clearly deserves.

What didn’t work for me was the whole cat lady thing and I knew this going in, but I love Anna Zaires and I was in a serious book slump. The other thing that almost didn’t work were the h’s issues with money because it clearly just existed to create a point of friction in the relationship, but as soon as I was “so over it” it started to resolve so in the end it was ok.

What worked for me was absolutely everything else about this book! I am madly in love with Marcus and Emma they were great characters and an even better couple. I also loved their BFFs and I can’t wait to read their story whenever it comes out.

In conclusion Anna Zaires is the best and I will never doubt her again.

Dnf at 42%. Ive been skimming before 42 anyway. I feel like i didnt need to read a lot of the parts to know whats going on.

Also one of the things that i really dont like in books is when something happens, say to the woman and the pov switches and the author feels the need to summarize what we just read in the last page in the guy's perspective that doesnt at all add anything to the story. The insta lust from the guy was also weird. I mean i know im supposed to suspend disbelief but I just wasnt convinced.

I stopped reading after he said he wanted to beat to a pulp the person who left the kittens in the trash. Its a bit over the top because were not given any hint that he would actually do something like that.

Did not realize this was only half the story. Characters quite flat. Poor cats

Emma is a shy and lonely bookseller with three cats attempting online dating for the first time, whilst Marcus is an incredibly wealthy hedge fund manager looking for a perfect wife. When Emma confuses Marcus for her blind date, Marcus finds he’s intensely attracted to her despite her not being anything like his usual type. He decides he wants her, but Emma’s insecurities - and Marcus’ own dominant personality - are going to make things difficult for both of them.

I just found this so readable. Is it over the top? Absolutely! There were points in this where I was really questioning the story - Marcus’ behaviour is really domineering - but I just could not stop reading it. It was entertaining, there were some funny bits, they had good chemistry and the sex scenes are hot and well-written. I also have to say I found Emma a really endearing character: she was very sweet and I loved her convictions and how firmly she stuck to them to try and put him in his place.

I haven’t really got much else to say about this book - it was an entertaining read, with some content I found a bit over-the-top and a hero that was hard to root for; I would recommend it if you enjoy your heroes possessive and OTT, and if you want a steamy, opposites attract romance.

Content Notes:
SpoilerWarnings: Death of a parent (in past), alcoholism (side character, in past), childhood neglect, emotionally abusive parent (in past).

Other: On-page sex, anal sex, mild OW drama
SpoilerThe hero and heroine meet when she confuses him for her blind date. The woman he was supposed to meet becomes a source of tension between them but apart from the one coffee date he never sees that woman again.
.

The story was good but I feel like it wasn’t enough for a second book.

I started reading this for the Ripped Bodice BINGO. But it wasn't a 'secret identity,' it was a 'mistaken identity.'
