A great tribute to the horror comics of the 50's! Five short stories told by our charismatic crypt keeper had plenty of shocks and scares to keep you satisfied. Artwork is done in the style of the 50's and is done well. Characters are pretty flat, except for our narrator of course, but with a quick anthology it's expected. If you like a quick spooky read, by all means read it now that it's reprinted.

Macabre, and more than a bit cheeky. Gotta be in the mood.

Eh, it was fine I guess. It's just really short and I'm probably not going to think about it ever again. The stories were adequately dark and had fun gimmicks but I'm not a fan of the narrator.

The movie is better, which I guess should be no real surprise, since this is based on the screenplay for the movie. It's fine but it only does a passable job of imitating the EC comics it is designed after, plus it's filled with misogyny (like the film).

A great homage to 1950s horror comics, Creepshow is actually the comic adaptation of the 1982 movie of the same name (at some points a direct scene by scene copy). The slanted angles, bright colors and comic-style visuals make the movie a pretty decent and fun re-creation, but the upside of the comic version is that you don't have to suffer through Stephen King's terrible acting (not that he's the only one who hams it up, but he's extra special).

I can imagine myself dipping into this every once in a while. I want to collect all the Tales from the Crypt comics someday, and Creepshow definitely won't have to be ashamed sitting next to them.

The first place in the Creepshow universe, however, goes to the 2019 anthology TV show. Not only does it have amazing old school practical effects(!), but the stories are great as well (with one or two exceptions, but that's to be expected in an anthology) and you can even spot a few horror icons along the way!

All in all a fun, campy piece of business. Got more of a nostalgia rush than I expected from this.
