This book was incredible. I love the authors writing style, read almost like poetry at points. I was hooked and loved how each story had some link to another, intertwining these women in small ways.

This story is so smart. Incredible.

I cried a few times throughout and would recommend reading trigger warnings however. It's pretty intense in parts.

I have to say wow what a book
My favourite teacher recommended it to me so naturally I read it and so grateful that she did.
It follows I think it was 12 black women throughout history but the are all connected in various ways. A lot of important topics such as racism, gender and in General queerness, sexual assault, feminism and abusive relationships are adressed. I learned sooo much from this book and at the beginning I was very confused because there wasn’t a single full stop or proper grammar but the plottwist or rather revealing at the end made everything make sense.
I would definitely recommend this book to everyone but look at the trigger warnings first!

this book made me laugh, cry, want to punch my fist through a wall, etc. incredibly written and full of pure human connectedness, definitely a journey and not always a fun one but worth the read!

One of my new favorite books of all time, Girl, Woman, Other is a powerful collection of vignettes depicting various characters as they navigate the struggles within the intersections of gender, race, sexuality, and socioeconomic class. There is no book like it and I doubt there will be another that comes close to accomplishing the beauty and heartache of being a “girl/woman/other.”

I listened to the audio book on BBC Sounds because I found the strange punctuation in the written text too jarring. In general, I struggled to keep track of all the characters and how they related to each other. It all felt disjointed. I don't know if the audio book is ideal for this text. It was rather underwhelming and confusing.

Shoutout to the critic that shaded this play Misty by Arinze Kene by asking, "are tales of Black trauma catnip for paying audiences...riddled with white guilt?". I was looking for just the right words to explain why I hated Girl, Woman, Other by Bernadine Evaristo. There are other reasons, but this really captures the main one so beautifully. The book was also too long with too many characters.  I just simply stopped  caring.
