Good info but minimally science backed and pushes her own dietary products.
It's a great book filled with a lot of great information.Auto immune diseases run in my family and when I started to develops pretty sever allergies the past few years I decided I should really consider living a healthier life style in hopes of not developing and auto immune disorder myself. (Or my children). The recipes included are simple but pretty tasty and I'm not a fan of cooking so the spelt out menu is such a huge benefit to me. I'm hoping this helps me and my family have healthier eating habits! The end testimonials were great. I really felt like Dr. Myers really cares about her patients and is very passionate about her work and helping heal people! đź’•

Another book that’s hard to review. It’s well put together, in many ways she makes good arguments. I especially appreciated the info on toxins, integrative medicine, and supplements. For my own purposes I’m skeptical of the diet, but I can see it might be great for some people. I don’t love the tone of “I found the answers and I’m totally right.” I get that she has to display confidence, but it was a bit over the top to me sometimes.
Just completed day 30 of The Autoimmune Solution meal plan.

It is a bit hard at the beginning – like any elimination diet you miss those things to start with. And no coffee or tea means headaches for a couple of days. But then once your body gets over it, certainly by day 10 I was feeling pretty good.
It did take me a little while to work out what was going to work for me in regards comfort and sustenance – I was loving the roast chicken with sweet potato and butternut pumpkin once a week and protein smoothies or berrry smoothies with coconut milk every lunchtime. There really is a surprising amount you can do with meats, seafood, vegetables, fruits, coconut products, salads, mustards, seaweed, cocoa and cacao nibs, tinned salmon or sardines, bone broth … coconut aminos.
I think stress plays a big part in AI recovery, so setting it up so you can get through this with a minimim of fuss – and not land up starving in an airport somewhere, is important—that and having an understanding partner.
It is summer here, I only work part-time, I meditate daily, I've been sunbathing, swimming in the sea and going for walks. I started the plan while my husband was away for a week so I could focus on my health.
And there is a lovely Facebook support page which you can join - The Myers Way® Community, which has been really helpful, lots of questions asked and lots of sharing of the process and its ups and downs. That has been motivating.
I think Amy Myers MD has her heart in the right place. You get all the info you need; the recipes and her recommended products (or you can buy your own locally if you prefer). She shares additional information via the support page and her website with no strings attached.

She has some great ideas, but she spends the entire book selling her program. I’m already here and reading your book, so you can stop selling and tell me what the program is already! But once you tease it out between the sales pitch, it’s great content.
Book is becoming dated… as in there a newer books on this topic that are better. However, this is pretty thorough, and includes a full 30 day meal plan and all the recipes. For those who are unwilling to give it a shot, claiming it’s too restrictive, I’m guessing pain isn’t bad enough to motivate you to try a different path. Plus, it’s only 30 days and then you can add things back to your diet.
I'm stunned at how many people are writing "reviews" only to say that this diet isn't possible for them or that there's nothing left to eat. The sad truth is that we are slowly killing ourselves with what we put into our doctors and mainstream medicine just wants to shove pills down our throats.
I've seen my children heal from autoimmune issues with diet and supplementation. Sadly, I fell back into old routines and now am suffering myself. I, too, didn't want to do it. I hated the idea of feeling deprived. But when you feel like garbage e and don't want to be on meds with crazy side effects for the rest of your life, you give it a go.
I'm FOUR days in...and, truth be told, I haven't totally eliminated sugar. I have made some of the recipes from her cookbook that use honey and maple syrup. And already I feel less bloated. I wow up yesterday with no back pain for the first time in weeks. Slept last night like I've never slept before.
So yes I will keep on going and I can't wait to see exactly which foods have been the culprits all these years.
Like they say...choose your hard.
