I loved that it’s the “after” story to typical hallmark style rom coms and that the author is fully aware of that (and so is the Nora, and presumably Charlie if he’s as similar to Nora as it seems). Also loved that it had a bit of that “A Novel Love Story” (Poston) vibe where the small town and its obligatory bookstore setting may be the impetus to the relationship but it doesn’t have to stay there to work. In fact it needs to grow beyond Hallmark.

i have never said this about a fictional man ever but i want a charlie lastra. i want one so bad. there's a reason fictional men are fictional y'all because no men are like charlie lastra no men can ever be like charlie lastra i feel sick to my fucking gut. this one was truly for all the eldest daughters out there. like wow. so happy for my girl nora who can finally rest and have someone else take care of her for once. someone who wants her to have everything she could possibly want in life and will do anything to make sure she has it. have i mentioned how much i love charlie because i have to say it again i love charlie.
this book started pretty slow but my god did we get there. and it was so deeply worth it like that was such an amazing ending i feel like crying just thinking about it. nora's character development and arc was incredible, her relationship with her sister was heartbreaking and so beautiful, and her romance with charlie made me want to die--especially during the last 3/4 of the book, but even in the beginning. their banter was SO fucking good (seriously. the best banter i've read in a romance novel by far) and the way charlie stayed by her and took care of her when she was breaking just made me feel so sick. why aren't men real. i'm being so serious. my god. i am going to throw up everywhere. i feel so violently fucking ill.
i also thought the romantic conflict in this book was by far the most realistic out of all of the conflicts in any of emily henry's books, and the way it was handled by both nora and charlie was actually very thoughtful and well done. nora and libby's relationship also made me want to die (this entire book made me want to die if you can't tell) i just love siblings in my fictional media and i just love the way that through it all, despite everything, they stayed strong and they stayed strong together.
i just cannot emphasize enough how happy i am for nora. i think she is my favorite from emily henry's fmcs and charlie is my favorite from her mmcs. so. yeah. i'm gonna be sick btw. i am going to be so sick.

Nora Stephens is a literary agent. She's been told she's cold and robotic, maybe its true but she doesnt care. One meeting with Charlie Lastra, another rival agent, and her whole world begins to flip. Nora's little sister unexpectedly plans a month-long trip for the both of them. Nora and her sister lost touch after their mother died so Nora thinks this trip will be perfect for them both to bond again but life has other plans. She is stunned to see the Charlie Lastra there and as they talk, they become close friends and even edit a book together. Is it a working friendship, or something more? hehe read it to find out
