4 possibly 5 stars but I have mixed feelings

I’ve really enjoyed this series, but this one really is problematic. The whole enemies to lovers troupe is problematic within itself for all novels particularly when we think about family violence and it’s impact. But I have to remember it’s fiction I guess. I have to say this book held me captive in needing to know. There are dark themes and you know what’s coming and the book held me to need to know the details of secret even though I knew what it was. I loved parents involvement and POV given there seriousness of the themes. Yes there is the HEA…. But this really was fucked upped. It certainly got me thinking. Nonetheless I enjoyed the book.

Was as expected from Shen but just like getting bent over a rusty fence post, having your hair pulled back so hard it feels like your being scalped and getting brutally fucked from behind, that shit never gets old.

If I could give this book more than 5* I would, it would be like 100*.
From the very beginning I knew that Vaughn was deep, dark and that something had happened to him. As the story unfolded I could glimpse little snippets of what had happened, but when the truth came out I was absolutely furious on his behalf. The chemistry between Vaughn and Lenora was sizzling and I loved that she pushed back when he bullied her, showing that she was a match for him.
As the story went on and Vaughn began to show more emotion than he had ever done before I knew that he would get his HEA.
This book had me going through every emotion and had me unable to stop reading until the end.

I thought this was a fantastic story. I loved how art was woven into the story line. I loved how Vaughn was unapologetic for who he was, and I loved that Len didn't just lay down and take his shit and wonder how she could change herself to appease him. And I'm really glad it explained all of the public BJs, which was really odd when I read it, because seriously, who can get away with that shit--publicly--in their high school. A surprisingly compelling and satisfying, steamy read!

2.5 stars... IDK.. this was a mess for me. I couldn't wait for brooding Vaughn Spencer but not like this.
