for me

This book was pretty good. I love how short it was. There was times where it lagged and was a little boring but I liked it. Loved the ending. I was surprised how quickly they got together but also thinking about the size of the book it really wasn’t. It didn’t play out exactly how I thought but it was good. Would recommend this book because it was pretty good especially for a quick read. So overall it was pretty good but wasn’t super great so 3/5 (possible 3.5/5).

I really loved the story and characters, but the sex scenes really ruined it for me.

This book was fabulous! It was so much more than a coming of age love story. It had so many gems inside the pages. It was a story of youth, friendship, heartbreak, growth, self worth and love. I highly recommend.

Cross Your Heart is a contemporary romance with friends to lovers trope. It's my first time to read from this duo and will definitely not be the last.

"It’s the worst kind of heartache, being loved by someone so completely in the wrong way."

I'm a great fan of friends to lovers trope, more so if it's enemies to lovers because who can resist that overwhelming hate feeling right? But this story of Roxy and Reid is more than this trope. It was everything I love in romance. This is a story that is so real and relatable. The character's thoughts, feelings and behavior is so realistic that reading this feels like a diary of sorts. There is no way that any one of us haven't experienced the sting of unrequited love or being "friend zoned". It really sucks major balls. I know, I've been there myself. Not only that, the book tackled and showed us the ugly side of social media: cyber bullying. It happens, be it you're a star or an average joe. The way Roxy dealt with hers is admirable because she is right: you give them power when you let them change the way you live.
Overall, a truly enjoyable, heart wrenching, romance read that most probably I'd end up re-reading again and again.

Good lord... this book was amazing. From heartbreak to heartwarming, I'm still trying to process this magnificent story. Rocky and Reid were perfection- desperate, hopeful, sizzling, lonely, exploding perfection. I can't even describe all the feelings it gave me, it was fantastic.

This book has such a beautiful and powerful meaning behind the actual story itself. The underlining message about bullying people when you don’t know the circumstances is wrong no matter what was perfect. I adored that Roxy went through such horrible things but stood tall and even the strongest people can break at times. It made it seem so real that I hurt when she did, and I broke when she broke. The authors draw you in and take you on an emotional rollercoaster that you don’t want to end.
Roxy and Reid have been friends since they were 10 years old and Roxy walks up to a socially awkward loner, Reid and she declares they are best friends now. They then make a pact no falling in love with each other but as we know the heart wants what the heart wants. Roxy falls for him and tells him one night and of course Reid is angry and confused. Reid lashes out at her and I wanted to be mad at him because he tells her she’s ruined everything then leaves and they don’t speak for 10 years, but as I read the story I realized that Reid couldn’t help lashing out and yes he may have handled it wrong but he was only a teenager and teen years are already confusing so he can’t take full blame. These two had such a connection you could feel the heartache that Roxy endured and has been enduring since that one night, I felt my own heart break because the authors put you in the story that the emotions were tangible. After years apart they come back together but how do they navigate this new awkwardness. There is a lot that Roxy has to endure, and I admired her tenacity to dust her shoulders off and carry on as if she didn’t care. The authors made this book truly unique you will see when you read the book by the “posts” in between chapters because it truly shows instead of just telling you how awful people and social media can be. I loved everything about this book, Reid and Roxy trying to figure out their place in each other’s live now that all this time has passed, their love for each other, what they are willing to endure for each other, and Roxy standing up for herself, but above all this the authors shine a light on how bullying behind a keyboard can truly hurt and that it is not ok to put others down just because you see what the media shows it doesn’t mean it’s true and you shouldn’t judge others for any reason at all. This was beautifully done with a romance story woven in. I truly hope we get an Ari story he was an amazing person.

This book is an amazing love story, I felt every emotion while reading it. Anyone can write a book, however it takes true talent to tell a story. This is a book that tells a story...the story of Reid and Roxy, how their friendship turned to love and their love was strong enough to withstand the harshest of rejections.

My heart broke for Roxy a few times, then I was able to say that a girl, stand up for yourself. Reid made me so mad at him, I didn't think he could redeem himself in my eyes, but he did.

This book was able to also touch on a subject that needs to be discussed, cyber bullying. It showed how words hurt people, even if not said verbally, written words hurt just as much.

"What a world we live in. One where complete strangers find it acceptable to pull another person's self-worth into the gutter. No wonder our world is so drowned in hate and violence. We find it so easy to spew words dripping with malice. The world has forgotten the beauty in a compliment, how easily it can turn someone's day around."

"You don't get to attack another human being because you don't deem them as worthy of another."

Cross Your Heart is the first book I read by Haley Jenner. It won't be the last one that's for damn sure.

Gahhhh

Another absolute hit from HJ here. Idk how they make it happen, every single time, but they do.
I was in love, he moment I read the blurb, and then I met the characters and got wound so deeply into their story, I’m not sure I can ever be pulled back out.
R&R are absolute GOALS. The relationship they have as best friends is impenetrable, and then they’re floating in the world, untethered by that friendship.
But when they came back together, mannnnnnn, it was perfection. Lightning struck, thunder wailed, Hearts were hurt and healed in the space of breaths.
It’s gonna take me some time to work through this one.
Recommendation: Do it. Read this now.

3.5 stars. I alternately loved and didn't like parts of this story. Once I got past the first (about) 35%, I couldn't put it down, though...
