I'm not really a fan of bully romances, but I actually like the two main characters in this and the premise of the story is interesting enough that I'm going to continue on. Not sure if I'll be able to do a 7 book series if these guys stay assholes the entire time.

[TL;DR]
After many years, the lost Vega twins have been found. Tory and Darcy thought they were regular teenage girls, but their fate lays tied to the Zodiac calendar, and in their home kingdom of Solaria. New to the world of Fae and elemental magic, the twins have to grapple with finding out their birthright includes wielding all four elements and taking the throne of Solaria as co-queens.

Alright, I'm not going to lie, I expected this to be a lot steamier because it was advertised as so on Booktok. I went into this thinking it was going to be another smut read that required little-to-no plot. I was pretty much wrong on all accounts. There is actually quite a bit of plot and world development in these books. I think they've been advertised poorly, and deserve a little more hype, especially from those that enjoy romantic fantasy/paranormal. Zodiac Academy, while not the world's most premiere literature is entertaining, slow burn (in the romantic department), and extremely sexy despite the lack of steamy scenes.

This series is pretty hefty for a Kindle Unlimited read, but I'm willing to put the energy into these because they still serve as nice palate cleansers without being completely void of any sort of development amongst the story. I'm hoping that the next books in the series will be more of the smutty variety because I was hoping that was what I was getting myself into. P.S. I know the book is advertised as suitable for an older YA audience, and I want to stress that this is most definitely an 18+ book. Even though there is not much sexually explicit content here, it still is a romance that deals with semi-taboo topics and mature content overall.

Rating: 4/5 stars
TW/CW: sexually explicit scenes, harassment, loss of parents, death, blood, inappropriate abuse of power dynamics

The best way I can describe this to anyone is a college-age Harry Potter, with fae, elemental magic, political intrigue, dark magic, funny and loveable sidekicks, enemies to lovers, bully romance, forbidden romance, and some SPICE (not so much in this first book, but it gets spicier as the series continues, I promise!).

If ANY of this appeals to you, get on reading this now!!! Seriously! The plot is great, the characters loveable, there's drama but also I laugh my ass off at the wonderfully ridiculous humor these writers bring to the table.

Seriously I think this series saved me from full-on depression during this pandemic. READ IT!!!!
