Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

This was my first Bora Chung book and I LOVED it. This was a collection of ghost stories that were told within the guise of a larger story. It was so eerie without being gory. I loved how the stories all tied into each other and the spin that Chung put on traditional Korean horror/ghost stories. It was thought provoking with the larger themes in each story and I couldn’t put it down.

Plot or Character Driven: Plot

An employee in a mysterious research institute discovers the different stories tied to the curious objects kept in laboratories and why so many employees before them do not work there anymore.

Where do I start? Each of these stories are touching, haunting and deeply upsetting. As always, Bora Chung captures the horrors of our current societies to transform them into disturbing (but very real) stories and criticize the late-stage capitalism we live in and its destructive effects.

From misogyny, to homophobia, to animal testing, each of these stories will touch you very profoundly, feeling the injustices in your bones.
