An old favorite. My children liked trying to balance things on their heads and pretending to be monkeys and stealing things from my head!
lighthearted

Oh, those pesky monkeys! Ms. Slobodkina inarguably created a classic. The story and illustrations are simple, but striking, and both the problem and the resolution are humorous.

Loved this book as a kid, was ridiculous....that's probably why :)

Good, silly early reader book. Want to remember this one for our other children when they’re gaining confidence in reading.

Great book! Quirky story-line, quirky main character, clever ending, too.

3.5/5

A book about a peddler selling hats who takes a nap and has to deal with some mischievous monkeys!

Great vocabulary for storytime.

While I enjoyed the illustrations and the straight forward, pleasant, story line, this book left me wanting. And while I would check out this book again from the library for my daughter (the illustrations are worth it, and the author herself has an interesting story worth sharing) , I would not purchase a copy for our home library.
