Top ten favorite preschool aged books. Reps, counting, and monkeys! What more could you want?

Just a quick read for Spanish

This was a favorite for bedtime stories when my children were younger. Written and illustrated by Esphyr Slobodkina, it puts a fun spin on the "monkey-see, monkey-do" adage. Words and illustrations work seamlessly together to create a fun tale.

It made me giggle.

Rated this one high because it is one of my all-time favorites for reading aloud to small children (and not-so-small). Must use cheesy Italian accent when chanting "You monkeys, you..... you give-a me back-a my hats!"

I have loved this and used it on many levels over the years. A keeper.

how can you not love this classic??

A cap peddler naps under a tree only to wake and find that all of his caps have been stolen by monkeys! This book is so fun to read to little ones; the colors are bright, the illustrations are very crisp with clean contrast, the lines of text repeat in patterns, and there are simple concepts in the text where the reader can help to teach the young listener about counting and colors in an entertaining way. My favorite part is producing the sound that the monkeys make (“Tsz! Tsz! Tsz!”) and yelling, “You monkeys, you!” (I still yell this at my old kids when they are being naughty – haha.)

This was my mom's favorite picture book. The one book we could get her to read when our bedtime was running late and she was too tired to read.

This would be a really fun book to act out with children at storytime.

Used in Pre-K Outreach Storytime 5/9/2016 - this was really fun! I did all of the peddlers actions and the children did the monkeys actions
