As a long time fan of Tina Turner it was great to get to hear about the wonderful life she lead as a solo artist. Part of the book does focus on her abusive x-partner and there is a section that deals heavily with physical illness. The reader of the audiobook did a wonderful job and seemed to be fully immersed in her acting/reader role.

Love Tina! This memoir covered a lot of what I already knew from the movie What’s Love Got To Do With It, but I found her retelling of her solo career and later life particularly fascinating. I will be bumping her discography and revisiting many of the videos and performances she detailed in the book!

I saw Tina Turner in concert for her 50th anniversary tour and have seen the musical about her life several times. She's one of my favorite singers, though I never knew her as part of Ike and Tina Turner (it was always her solo stuff I heard growing up).
Having said all that, this book introduced me to Tina in a way I hadn't known her before. They do a wonderful job weaving together the known items of her life with poignant stories and flashes from her career. Overall, it's one of the better memoirs I've read, and I applaud the wisdom she shares about her life in trying to help others.

The more I learn the more I love her. Inspiring and motivating - I just loved the audiobook narrator also. What a wonderful book to listen to.

An excellent autobiography that gives an in depth look at Tina Turner's life with Ike (before and after), her current marriage and her struggles healthwise. She also discusses briefly the lost of her son. Very transparent look into her life and how she rose above the hardship and pain.

She writes this from a different perspective than I, Tina.
