My first venture into a cozy book! Not my typical read, but it was a nice switch up and i was not disappointed. The little town was a place I enjoyed visiting and Caz had me wanting a sentient houseplant friend of my own. There was a lot going on toward the end of the book, so it felt a little rushed and messy, but all in all I would check out the next book in the series.
I adored this. It was that same feeling when reading House on the Cerulean Sea and you got all the cutesy, weird, cozy vibes that just pluck at your heartstrings.
Also the sentient spider plant and Meep the cactus were top tier characters and I would die for them.

⭐️3.5 rounded down⭐️ I want to start off this review saying that I would still recommend this book, and I DO think people would like it. I think the plot is really interesting, and I love the found family aspect of it.
The reason why I couldn’t give it a higher score personally is because of believability and plot pacing. I think that, though the plot points were amazing, I didn’t believe in the build up to them. For example, I feel like the two main characters started to fall in love very quickly without a ton of build up. Yet, if the author had just waited several chapters in, I think there would have been a more natural place to show their budding romance due to problems they had to face together. It was shared very early on that they liked each other, but I couldn’t figure out how on earth that was possible at that particular moment. But, just 5 chapters later, they experienced a bonding moment that I could very easily see bringing people closer. If she had just moved that idea to the part of the story where it made more sense, it would’ve been fine.
So, maybe the right way to describe it is that it has all of the right pieces of a good story, and all of the outcomes of the story make complete sense, but even though I believed in it…I didn’t. And I didn’t believe in it solely due to pacing.
I do believe other people could get over this, and I still see myself recommending this book to others. It’s very sweet and could’ve been amazing. It just wasn’t the right fit for me.
