i liked this book a lot. i think the plot is interesting enough on its own but it has really good character development. it really felt like you were learning with the main character and trusting/mistrusting people with her. none of the characters are without flaw but that makes them so interesting. a lot of the time i didn’t agree with the main character’s choices but i understood why. the ending was fine, slightly rushed but still interesting. a quick read with very good storytelling.

This book was fascinating. It's a boarding school murder mystery filled with drama and secrets and chaos.

The main character, Kay is a suspect in the death of a girl at her school, but then she receives an email from said dead girl, leading her on a scavenger hunt to get students removed from the school. There was lots of intrigue and drama as secrets were discovered, and Kay tries to clear her name.

I didn't particularly like any of the characters, which knocked this book down in its rating, but I did appreciate their complex backstories and how that unfolded. There was some unreliable narration that was really interesting to read. I also was interested by the relationships in this book, they were all very interesting and complex.

As for the mystery itself, I found it interesting how it was told. It was pretty unique and complicated. I did think some of the suspects were a little underdeveloped and useless, and the big reveal was a little predictable. Still, an enjoyable story.

PG-13 Darkness, talk of drugs, suicide, swearing, etc

This is probably perfect for fans of Pretty Little Liars and the like. It started out strong, but I could not get invested in the main character AT ALL, which made the entire thing a little tedious at times. The central mystery was interesting enough (though I knew who did it almost instantly), but all the layers of Kay's backstory felt unnecessary and dragged out, to the point that once we learned everything at the very end, I truly could not have cared less.
