Fantastic

Very beautifully written, it just wasn’t for me, at least not right now. I tried and tried but just wasn’t drawn in to the story. However, the author is very clearly wonderful with words. I hope she writes something else that may appeal to me more.

This book snuck up on me. A calming description of the nature around the author throughout the year was a heartbreaking and personal reflection on climate change and the inevitability of change and repetition.

I don't know what I was expecting from a book titled The Comfort of Crows, but I suppose I thought it'd be more comforting, in the vein of Mary Oliver. Instead it felt dimmer, grittier, sadder. Beautifully written but not very uplifting and sort of meandering in a way that I suspect was meant to emulate the cyclical patterns of nature but instead made it feel very long.

A book club selection for January, i loved this book with all my heart.

Margaret Renkl is such a gifted writer. This journey through a year made me stop and notice so many things in my own backyard and the shared spaces around Nashville that we both love.
