Loved this so much, it was a re-read for me and I definitely appreciated it more the second time around. Heartbreaking yet somehow comforting in the end.

This is a difficult yet important story based on the concept of pregnant Enslaved People being discarded into the oceans by enslavers and their offspring living on below the waves. 

This story covers the concept of personal growth, independant sacrifice for group benefit, strengthening community, and 
generational healing. 

The potential for more stories within this universe (as clipping./Daveed Diggs says at the end of the audiobook) is strong, and the only reason it's not a 4.5/5 is because I don't see myself going back to it multiple times. I really appreciate Rivers' writing style and will be seeking out other works of theirs.
