I hated this??

The concept was so interesting: mermaids who were descendants of pregnant African slaves thrown overboard. SO MUCH POTENTIAL and it was such a flop! I felt like I was reading some random persons sad submission into a creative writing class, and the dialogue was wildly cringy. Honestly don't know why I finished it.

heartbreaking and profound. would have loved it to be more than just a novella. really enjoyed the audiobook, and am really impressed with the collaborative nature and depth of how this book/retelling came to be — the afterword was so interesting!
