Picked it up, and read it cover to cover.
Well-written characters with flaws that weren't an obnoxious trait to justify being an asshole. Filled with cute moments that make you kick your feet and squeal. To moments of pure rage, anger, and deep emphathy that made me cry endlessly for their pain.
I don't know what other people rate it, but for me it had a little bit of everything.

<3<3<3<3 much love for the characters, book, and author

It fades to black, which they should have to tell you up front.

This was one of my most anticipated reads since last year when I first heard about it and I have to say it was pretty good, I'm glad I finally got to it. I loved everyone is this book except for Liya's dad and Mukesh obviously. I won't like though I did think Liya was annoying for about a good 90% of the book. With that being said though I did admire her strength for what she has had to deal with in her past and how that followed her around for years after. My annoyance with her was because of Jay. To me she hated him for no good reason and the way she was always so defensive got a bit irritating after a while but in hindsight I get why. Jay Shah. That man was great, zero complaints about him. I loved all of the side characters as well, they were so great. I loved Jay's family as well especially because of how they didn't really pay much attention to the rumors they heard about Liya. As someone of South Asian descent, reading a book with representation is always nice.  Overall this was a really good read.

what can I say about this book? this was the first time reading a book where South Asians were the maim characters specifically Hindu gujarati therefore I felt like i could really relate to it. it was incredibly great to read about things I could specifically relate to such as traditions and beliefs so I felt a lot more connected to the characters than ever. I strongly felt a connection towards Liya as she has the same view as me on marriage and children within an Indian household and wider society. I just hope one day I would would able to experience this type of love in real life because this book was truly beautiful.

The ending was very powerful (made me cry) and for the most part, the plot was good. A little slow here and there, and somewhat strange/unrealistic at some parts but mainly really good! Love the South Asian representation for pretty much of all the characters
