DID NOT FINISH: 54%

Every character feels so juvenile. It didn’t seem like there was any distinction in the way any character talked, which is so wild when I’m reading a conversation between a girl in her late twenties, her mom, and her 80-year old grandmother…

Wow. WOW! I was completely captivated by this book. So much so I couldn’t put it down and I HAD to finish it today. It was SO GOOD. It was fast-paced, well planned, and the characters were perfection. Even when I figured it out, I was STILL obsessed and couldn’t wait to see how everything was going to unfold. This is a MUST for anyone who loves true crime.

This was an engaging read that kept me hooked. I liked how the podcast element was woven in, giving the story a fresh and modern layer. What really stuck with me, though, were the underlying themes. The book shows how people often rewrite the truth about someone once they’ve passed, creating a polished version of who they were that doesn’t always match reality. And the note about how people are quicker to believe men over women. Frustrating, but sadly very realistic. I was also happy with the open ending. It left just enough ambiguity to feel true to the story while still giving a sense of closure. Overall, a smart mystery that gave me plenty to think about.
