4.5? v fun and compelling, a total page Turner. I read it very quickly, and did not want to put it down to sleep, work, etc. I liked the protagonist because she was believable. you certainly didn't like her too much, she was not perfect, but you were mostly rooting for her. Early on, I was a bit more on the fence. The way she talked about her current boyfriend Nathan was certainly not very compassionate, she obviously did not give it two shits about him. and the way she kept thinking that her voice in her head was suggesting she kill everyone certainly didn't help her presumed innocence. but later on she discovered that the voice was not actually hers but her murdered best friend savvy's, that made more sense. The author did a good job in how they peeled back the layers like an onion. when you first learned about her ex-husband, Matt, from both the podcast and the way she described her first encounter when she showed up at his house and he basically invited her in to have sex, there was no way to have known how abusive he was and how bad the relationship was. which I guess is kind of the point. but it absolutely kept me guessing. I'm curious if you were to reread it after knowing that Emmett was the true villain, would clues have stood out? I feel like early on she just kept talking about how cute he was and how she never realized it until she was much older. but did she really not remember making out with him either time?

i was a little bit confused when she was talking about how abusive she and Matt were towards each other when they were married. I know she yelled at him and maybe slapped back at him but did she really ever hit him? that hard? Maybe it doesn't matter.

at the end when Ben texted her about meeting up in LA and she just responded but you don't know what, I like to think that she was going to go meet up with him. she often admitted to herself that she was making poor choices, but I think dating Ben at that point would have been a good one.
