I do not know what to think about this book really. It is probably one of the most depressing books I have ever read; it needs a lot of trigger warnings (had to pick most from the list of content warnings). However, it also has so many beautiful scenes and moments about life in general and about growing up, and also about diverse types of relationships; life-long friendships, romantic relationships, families. At times I was not sure whether I truly liked this book for its content or whether I just had to continue reading it after getting so involved with the characters' lifes after reading so many pages about them (due to the length of this book). But at the same time; would I ever have finished a book this long if it was not filled with so many touching beautifully written scenes in it? Probably not.

This book is tremendously sad, but very well written. There is LGBTQ+ representation, but in a strange way that isn't usual for an LGBTQ+ book. Not good for representation, and no major female characters either, and the canon black characters are not on the center stage. Despite this, it is a very good book that will affect you very deeply.
