A harrowing story of teenage addiction, had me invested in Christiane’s story the second I started to read.

I watched the movie going in blind and I was captivated by Christiane's story, though the movie does not really leave the ending clear, so when I found out it was based on a memoir I got it immediately. This book really made clear the struggles of a person addicted to heroin and the way that they wanted to quit but being unable to do so for so long. Christiane was a little annoying at times but I couldn't even begin imagining feeling the way that she did with her addiction. Definitely a must-read.

Not for the faint of heart. Follows Christiane F who is a 14 year old girl living in Berlin, who begins a path culminating in heroin addiction. Heartbreaking story but no holds barred, the most realistic portrayal of the monotony of addiction that I have read
