Is there a right way to write about pedophilia & the traumatic mark it leaves? If so, My Dark Vanessa did the damn thing. I absolutely despise the romanticization of adult-minor relationships in our culture. Kate Elizabeth Russell did a great job at showing us Vanessa’s perspective both as a minor and adult. 

Also, DEATH TO ALL PREDATORS.

The subject matter of this book made it an extremely difficult read, but it's very fast paced so it was a quick read for me. This is definitely a book I'll be thinking about for a very long time. 

Please please please go into this book prepared. I tried to include as many trigger warnings as I could remember but it's possible I missed some.

This book is absolutely heart wrenching. Beautifully written and such an important message. It’s so important to understand how abuse can effect you long term. I sobbed while reading this book. This is not easy to read, as you’d expect. I would recommend this to everyone. Please read the triggers before engaging.

• difficult read, but only because it was so real and accurately written that it was sickening; could have been real life, most likely was 
•  triggering and upsetting (which isnt a bad thing), just not necessarily a monday morning coffee book… left it feeling icky
