This was the first book I read by Karla Sorensen, and I am glad I had the opportunity to. The Crush is a sports romance that was low angst and a fast read. It has wonderful characters and a heartbreaking story of Adaline and Emmett’s struggle to make a relationship work when they live so far away from each other. I loved meeting all the Ward and Wilder families. They were such great characters and had a wonderful warmth to them. I would certainly read another book by the author and recommend this one.
I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving a review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Once again Karla Sorensen writes a book that deserves so much more than 5 stars. From the minute the reader meets Emmett they can feel that his life has changed forever. You never know what your missing in life until it smacks you right in the face and when he realizes that Adaline is the key to his future he will stop at nothing to make her his. Unfortunately that also means he has to deal with miles in between them and oh yeah by the way - he has already broken her heart once before. Can he finally get his HEA? Or will there be more roadblocks than just location between him and Adaline. Emotions just drip off each and every page. The reader's heart travels everywhere the two go and not only does Karla Sorensen give you heart felt interactions but also uplifting family guidance. This book had me from the opening pages and even though I finished it my heart is still full.

Emmet Ward.
Y'all aren't ready for the slow burn, steamy game plan that is Emmett-Freaking-WARD!

Ok, so, I'll be honest. I totally didn't remember any scenes from the previous Karla Sorensen books where Adaline & Emmett interacted.

All the tears for the end of the Ward family! I am not ready to tell this crazy family goodbye! We finally get Emmett’s story, and o my goodness, it is so good!
Emmett follows in his father’s football legacy footsteps and goes on to play in the NFL, focusing his life on the game. After his 5th season, a terrible injury to a fellow teammate and friend leaves Emmett questioning life and the image of one girl comes to mind.

Adeline is swearing off athletes. First, Emmett was her crush back from college that didn’t want to start anything because starting in the NFL came first, and then she dated a baseball player who turned out to be a dud. But Emmett storms back into her life taking her by surprise and making her question how she’s been living her life.

This was such a great way to end the Ward family stories. We got to see all the siblings, especially Molly and Isabel! Paige plays a big part in this story as well, which is so sweet, and lots of characters from other Washington wolves books make references or small cameos! Allie is still awesome!

Emmett and Adeline’s story was different from any sports second chance romance that I’ve read, which was refreshing. It was angsty and heart breaking, but also sweet and romantic. Seeing some of my favorite characters from previous books is a huge bonus.

I hope we see more of the Ward’s, especially Emmett and Adeline in the next series about the Wilder family! I’m so excited for Greer’s book!
