Someone please travel in time and tell Isaac Asimov that he should stick to writing robots instead of
straight romances.

Also.
the U.S. Constitution? Really? Are you going to take *that* as a basis to create "a better intergalactic system"?
The book is clearly a reflection of its time, and (to some extent) should be judged accordingly.

The plot was good, pretty good ideas there, but the execution wasn't the best. Too many plot twists at the end, which made it hard to 1. believe them and 2. keep track of everything during the last parts of the book.

The characters? I don't think any of them is salvageable, but
the Autarch. He felt more complex than the others, his motivations made sense to some extent
, but other than that I couldn't bring myself to care about anyone in this book. Biron deserves the record of the character I've disliked quicker in my reading experience. I was on page 2 and I already found him annoying.

Not the best reading, but not the worst either.

This must be the most disappointing book by Asimov I've ever read. As imaginative and brilliant as he might have been, Asimov just wasn't that great at writing romance. But I think I'll forgive him, since I read that even he didn't like the book very much.

A fast, easy read. The protagonist I hated, but the rest of the characters were good. The protagonist was too whiney and childish for my tastes. It was an enjoyable audiobook and Asimov remains one of my favorite authors.
