This is honestly the perfect length for this story; sometimes I’ll finish a short story and wish there was more, but I think this tied everything up in a succinct way.

The first half of the book was more interesting and engaging, and there were too many strange twists by the end that I wasn’t quite sure what to believe, like the main character, but overall a decent enough story for a sunny afternoon.

Did not put it down and it's short enough that won't cause neck pain. A possibly paranormal mystery with a disillusioned grifter at the helm, I got the expected and unexpected in uncomfortably pleasurable measure. People are terrible. Sometimes, people are wonderful at being terrible.

This is a standalone short story. The main character is never named. She has 2 jobs for a business. One of these is as a fortune teller. The other is as a sex worker. In her fortune teller role (and it is a role), she meets a woman in distress. The story goes from there. This is quite a thrilling, twisty book. I recommend it for anyone who wants to read a short, intense thriller. It was my first book by Gillian Flynn. I will definitely be reading more from her.
