This is my first experience of Flynn's writing, and I was pleasantly surprised. As with all things that are overly-hyped, I didn't have high expectations for this. However, I wanted to see if I liked Flynn's writing before picking up Gone Girl and her other books.
Towards the middle, I felt that it was swaying too much towards a typical murder house story with no real depth. However, the ending completely saved the story for me, and made the middle more bearable.

Another masterful tale of manipulation and self delusion
I LOVE Flynn's three other books, but this (which is really just a stand-alone short story) didn't entirely do it for me. It had a perfectly imperfect protagonist and a suspense factor, but the end fizzled. It still had Flynn's mastery for horror and mystery in the modern world, but something about the end just didn't fit with the rest of the tale. Still, it was well-written and spooky to boot.
3.5/5 - that was a really fun short story! The twists were amazing, but it would have been better as a fully fleshed out book. Overall, really good!
Gillian Flynn could write a grocery list and I’d read it with gratitude. I love all her creepy little stories, this one is no exception

Most unexpected first paragraph ever! Very dark, funny short little story. Whether it's a full length novel or a short story; Flynn brings the goods.
Chose this as my "random book" for the Around the Year in 52 Books challenge, as it was a freebie with the Book of the Month club and not one I would necessarily have selected myself. However, it's a well-crafted little suspense / thriller story, well-paced and a set of characters that definitely left some interesting question at the end. Fun quick read.
