This was such a cute Valentine's Day buddy read! It wasn't on my radar and it's always fun to find something new.

Matchmaker Cassandra Reynolds finds herself in need of a match of her own so she has a plus one to her estranged father's wedding. Enter Luke Dawson, who takes it upon himself to do the matchmaking. With a great mix of romance and family drama, there's never a dull moment.

I'm picky with romance. It's definitely a mood thing for me. I'm glad I gave this one a try because I enjoyed it a lot more than I expected not being in the zone for this genre at the moment. I'm glad that this is a series for when I am looking for a romance read sometime in the future. The writing style, especially with an overuse of euphemisms and cliches, wasn't my favorite, but the plot made up for a lot of it.

⚠️ mild spoilers ?? maybe ⚠️

πŸ’ some characters would really benefit from therapy, in general. cassandra, the main character, should be #1 on that list. i know it's a rom-com, supposed to be light hearted and fun, but if you're gonna insert deep conversations such as what was in this book, it'd be nice for therapy to be mentioned. idk about you but a dudes πŸ† isn't going to make me be "cured" from the trauma i endured.

πŸ’ there's something about morgan elizabeth's male characters that i don't necessarily like .... their personality is fine. but i think it's the possessiveness, the "you're mine" attitude after meeting the female main character for 2 minutes. saw it in 'tis the season for revenge' also.

πŸ’  in saying that though, i did like the book! those two things were just two big things that really stood out for me.

This was surprisingly good! Cassie and Luke were absolutely adorable together and I loved seeing their relationship come together.

Cassie especially was such a refreshing main character, who worked so hard for her goals and was just really admirable as a business woman. She's open about never being able to be a housewife and stay with kids all day and I loved that! Yes! Give me more of that in romance please!

Luke sometimes got a bit too possessive for my taste but it was all still acceptable for a romance. And he did own up it, so, something else we don't see often in romance.

Tbh, I only read this so I could get to the second one but now I'm looking forward to it even more :)
