It has a kind of dark fairy-tale vibe to it with elements simmilar to Carmilla, Beauty and the Beast and Sleeping Beauty. I love the saphic representation but it was a little slow and repetitive. Overall a time worth read.

This is the most beautiful book I have ever read in my life. I know it is a bold statement, but it is the one I have chosen. This book spoke to me on another level. It was the one tale that kept my tears coming, fed them emotions that I have always felt but never dared acknowledge or even analyse. The Witch and Mina gave me a new perspective and such a deep love for them. I doubt I have ever loved a book more than I have loved this one. It came at a time scarred by so many uncertainties and my a fear of being myself and having the courage to speak my truth, to be more than a tapestry on a busy hall. Their love was so gentle even though it was marred by all the hardships they've been through. The notion of truly being seen was explored in such a way it left me staring blankly, wondering and questioning the foundations of my self made isolation. This review is rather subjective, I know, but it could be done no other way. The love I have for this tale comes from all the little details that made my heart flutter. This was not like a good book, whose complexity you must illustrate. This book was complex and good, but those qualities are there from the beginning, I think. It's as if saying my hair is brown and my eyes are. No, instead, it was its core, its soft and harsh moments that speak best of it. Of, I bear such sadness for having reached the end of this. But I will come back because an end only calls for a new beggining.

Majority of this book was a 4 star, but the last third dropped it down to 3 star because Mina pissed me the fuck off

How are you going to give this grand declaration of love after the Witch communicated her fear that she was too much of a monster to love, and then turn around and RUN AWAY when you learn the truth. Like oh my god grow a fucking spine. It was truly difficult to get on board with the romance

Initially a slow starter for me but once I got around a third of the way through, I stayed up into the early hours of the morning so I could race through it. A gorgeous sapphic reimagining of one of my favourite fairy tales.
