Very slow beginning to the point I stopped reading it the first time around. The heart of the book peaked my interested and had me finish the book in about 2 days, but all in all I found it very frustrating and was annoyed with all of the characters. Would I recommend it? No.

This was a real page-turner and I couldn't put it down for the few days it took to finish it. If you're looking for a book that will pull you in fast and keep you engaged, this is a great suspense thriller. If you're looking for great art, this ain't it. A lot of folks were disappointed by the ending, but I felt like I was so thoroughly entertained for the rest of the book, I'm willing to forgive the rather lackluster ending. It's a hell of a ride.

Not finishing a book is like being a bad friend. But this is a struggle. I have seen too many cop series.

This had been on my list for a along time but upon reading the book description, it has been there ever since until I finally started.

It started interesting. How very precise a character created by the author is to be. But Gillian Flynn led me to believe what she want me to which was a good start, I almost didn’t want to finish though, I was predicting what would happen and I always never get it. I almost know what will happen next but every ‘day of’ was different, really far from what I was expecting.

I have to say the ending was what I wanted although it’s totally crazy as in mad. Mental crazy. I wanted it to end that way but I was led to think that it won’t but then Amazing Amy does it again.

I wonder how the author was able to come up with her character. Totally crazy. I love her. It must have been an extensive fun research.

But then again. How good books like this are almost wasted because of a bad start. You know. It wasn’t actually too bad of a start. I watch way too much cop series.

A book that wouldn't have happened if they both just went to therapy.

I finished this book faster than I have finished shorter books lately. I couldn’t put it down. I don’t know if I should rate it 4 or 5 stars, so in my head this 4 star rating is really 4.7 or something closer to 5 than 4. What a wild ride. All I can say is wow. Happy I read it, holy moly .

I liked this, but it didn’t wow me. Having read a lot of thrillers, the twist didn’t surprise me, but it probably would’ve in 2012. Amy is the definition of “mastermind” by Taylor Swift. I didn’t love the ending though- I found myself wanting more.

Nicks POV is tedious & irritating but that’s bc he is tedious & irritating. They are both absolutely psychotic but at least amy acknowledges this whereas nick pretends he is still a mummy’s boy little king who can do no wrong & how dare he face the consequences of his own actions.
Amy is the queen of unreliable narration. her diary entries are written so we see nick as an awful & abusive husband while we see her as a wonderful, caring wife that doesn’t know where she went wrong to make her husband hate her.

The movie misses out on how actually diabolical amy is on the inside tho. i feel like the movie makes her likeable but in the book man is she absolutely psychotic to the CORE. kinda love that for her tho. Nick is equally crazy but only bc amy made him that way.

when we finally see amy for who she is post missing - she is which is a crazy, manipulative LYING woman. girlbossed a little bit too close to the sun. but admirable in the way that she has completely out-thought & out-manipulated the police.

outright i give it a 3/5 bc i almost gave up reading it bc of how slow part one was but i’m glad i pulled through. there were times where i had to just take a moment & look at the ceiling or something bc the author made some really weird word choices. like she made nick think that a woman “smelled vaginal” for example???
