I was expecting sappy clean boring romance. Instead I got a surprise. Where We Belong offers a sappy romance with a twist. There is a trigger in the story about sexual assault but Miss Grayson did not represent it in graphic detail.
It has been a long week for me with a disappoinment at work. And lately I have been picking up a bad book. So when I listen to Where We Belong, everything seems alright again.
The chemistry between Harley and Tyson is sweet, sappy. This is a second chance romance, BTW. And Max is cute. I want to see more angst, more drama. But I settle for sappy romance right now.
Overall I do enjoy this book very much.

Okay, the premise had me.
And sexual assault is never an easy subject matter, I get that. I'm by no means saying that it isn't worth exploring and, dare I say, working out through the wonders of fiction.
I just think it fails here.
Totally separate are my gripes about the adults sounding like teenagers, unjustified validations/motivations (even from seemingly tertiary characters) and misunderstanding after misunderstanding after misunderstanding.
It just all felt so empty.
