Not as deep as the author might have hoped - An interesting study of the life of a ghost - left behind after the suicide of her sister and her own bad choices.

This novella uses different “ghost rules” than her previous books but often uses similar imagery. There was a lot to love here and I’d like to return to Delia and Avo in NYC!

Seanan's already on my 'grab and read' list, having built up trust in me that she can take the most tired cliches (fairies! zombies!) and turn them into something wonderful.
But this book.. was something extra special. I loved this in a way that was more personal, I think, closer to the heart. Seanan's characters are always fully fleshed out and unique, but this one was so close to home (the collection of misfit cats, the trying to make the world better a little piece at a time). When the story was over, I missed her. I still miss her. (Shit, now I'm crying.)
This has made it into the select group of Favorites, books I will read and re-read for years to come. I'll leave the summary for elsewhere, but just go read it.

A beautifully written ghost story. My only complaint is that I wish it were longer! See my review at Bookshelf Fantasies.

Seanan McGuire is one of my favorite authors, so I'll pretty much read anything she writes. Dusk or Dark or Dawn or Day was very unique. It put a different spin on ghosts that, I thought, was very interesting. McGuire has a way of making the reader really connect and feel for the characters she writes about and she does it again with Jenna. While this novella wasn't my favorite thing McGuire has written, it was still very good and I can't wait to read whatever she comes out with next!

This was a compelling little ghost story. Like nothing I've read before. Introducing new rules and lore, not only for ghosts but witches. Loved the protagonist and her motives. Loved how unique it was. Looking forward to more of Seanan McGuire's writing!
